Hours Calculator
Calculate hours worked between a start and end time, minus breaks.
How it works
The calculator finds the time from start to end, handles shifts that cross midnight, and subtracts your unpaid break.
Formula
Hours = (end − start − break) ÷ 60, adding 24 hours if the end time is earlier than the start
Example
9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute break is 8 hours (8.00 decimal hours).
FAQ
Does it work for night shifts?
Yes. An end time earlier than the start is treated as the next day.
What are decimal hours?
Minutes as a fraction of an hour, useful for payroll. 30 minutes is 0.50.
