Car Loan Calculator
Estimate your monthly car payment and total interest for an auto loan.
How it works
The amount financed is the price plus sales tax, minus your down payment and trade-in. The payment uses the standard amortization formula. Fees and tax rules vary by state and dealer.
Formula
Payment = L × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−n), where L = amount financed, r = APR ÷ 12, n = months
Example
A $30,000 car with $5,000 down at 7% for 60 months finances $25,000 and costs $495.03 per month.
FAQ
Is sales tax always on the full price?
No. Some states tax only the price after trade-in. Adjust the numbers to match your state.
Does a longer term cost more?
Usually yes. A lower payment spread over more months means more total interest.
